Artist’s Statement
What I try to do with my work is show the many pathways of overlap, by providing explanations both visually and with text for the scenes I have drawn. I use oil on wood and watercolors on paper, but lately I have been using a graphic program called Paper 53 and work on an iPad Plus. Sometimes I work on my series called “Work Week with Heather Hewson,” a personal graphic narrative, and other times I work more on my Landscape and Animals series.
Heather Hewson lives and works in Southern California. Currently she has a part-time dream job as an innovator for the Moxi, Wolf Museum of Exploration and Innovation in Santa Barbara, where she works with young people on different types of hands-on projects. She spends most of her free time on her many projects, including her daily graphic, Work Week with Heather Hewson, and drawing fantastical worlds where amazing and wonderful things happen. She is a voracious reader, loves to swim, and can’t wait to get an Airedale puppy.
